Aberdeen Minerals Limited Completes Heliborne Geophysical Survey for 2022

ELLON, Aberdeenshire, 30 September 2022.

Aberdeen Minerals Limited announces the completion of heliborne geophysical surveying of its priority areas in Aberdeenshire.

The survey, carried out by SkyTEM Surveys ApS (SkyTEM) on behalf of Aberdeen Minerals, was part of the company’s mineral exploration programme investigating the high potential in North East Scotland for deposits of nickel, copper and cobalt, which are critical raw materials for the energy transition.

The survey was recently paused when a low-level flying permit issued to SkyTEM’s subcontracted helicopter operator was suspended by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) following an incident on 17 September. Minor damage was caused to a local power line resulting in a short power cut to households and businesses in the Balmedie area. The company regrets any inconvenience caused to the Balmedie community and thanks the network provider SSEN for their prompt response.

In light of ongoing discussions with the CAA, SkyTEM scheduling constraints and the near-term weather outlook, and in reviewing the successful results gathered to-date, Aberdeen Minerals and its contractors have concluded the survey for the 2022 season and have commenced data interpretation on an accelerated timeline. The results will help Aberdeen Minerals to refine its understanding of the highly prospective broader North East region in preparation for a potential second phase of geophysical surveys in 2023.
