Electric cars: Helicopter surveys Aberdeenshire on hunt for valuable minerals used to make EVs

Airborne surveys are being carried out in rural Aberdeenshire with the aim of establishing whether the region is a source of sought-after minerals used to make batteries for electric cars.

Previous studies have suggested that deposits of cobalt, nickel and copper could lie underground, but conclusive proof was never sought as demand for the materials – and their value – was much lower. MAIN ARTICLE
